Favor boxes are small decorative packaging boxes used to present gifts, candy, or keepsakes at weddings, birthdays, baby showers, and corporate events. Custom favor boxes are printed with your logo, colors, and artwork in sizes from 2″ to 6″, available in kraft, window, pillow, and rigid styles for wholesale order quantities.

Your Favors Deserve Better Than a Generic Craft-Store Box

You spent months choosing the linens, the florals, and the color palette. Then the favors go home in a stock white box that clashes with everything or worse, arrives crushed because the vendor shipped 300 flat blanks in one under-filled carton.

If you’re planning events for a living, the problems are more expensive than aesthetic. Retail favor boxes come in three sizes that never quite fit what you’re putting inside. Reorders arrive a shade off from the last batch. A candy client wants a grease-resistant liner and nobody stocks one. And when a bride changes her mind on the ribbon color eleven days out, there’s no supplier who will run 400 units without a six-week lead time.

Custom favor boxes solve the fit problem, the brand problem, and the reorder problem at once. You specify the dimensions, the board, the print, and the finish. What ships is what you approved every time, at wholesale pricing that beats buying retail packs in bulk.

What Custom Favor Box Manufacturing Involves

A favor box is a small-format carton, usually between 2″ and 6″ on its longest side, built to hold something light: chocolates, macarons, soaps, candles, jewelry, seed packets, mini bottles, or a printed keepsake.

Manufacturing one to spec means four decisions:

Structure the dieline that determines how the box folds, closes, and displays. A pillow box and a two-piece rigid box hold the same volume but read completely differently on a reception table.

Substrate the paperboard. Weight, color, coating, and whether it needs a food-contact grade for direct edible contact.

Print how your artwork transfers onto that board, and whether the run length justifies offset or digital.

Finish foil, emboss, spot UV, lamination, or nothing at all if the raw kraft look is the point.

Everything else inserts, ribbon slots, window film, assembly method follows from those four.

Why Event Professionals Order From ONO Custom Boxes

Small-format specialists, not a general carton plant. Boxes under 6″ have their own problems: scoring cracks on tight folds, glue tabs too narrow for automated assembly, artwork that distorts across a small panel. We build dielines around those constraints instead of scaling down a shipper template.

Color that holds across reorders. We archive your press profile and PMS builds. The 500 boxes you order in March match the 500 you ordered in October which matters when a venue runs a recurring event or a retailer is restocking a shelf line.

Physical proofs before the full run. You approve a printed, folded, finished sample in hand not a screen render. Screen colors lie, especially on uncoated kraft.

Low minimums for real event volumes. Most events need hundreds, not tens of thousands. Our minimums start at 100 units per SKU, so a 180-guest wedding doesn’t have to buy 5,000 boxes.

Manufacturing and fulfillment across the United States. Nationwide shipping with production timelines built around event dates, including rush lanes when a date won’t move.

Materials

  • SBS / C1S paperboard, 12pt–24pt the default for full-color printed favor boxes. Bright white, sharp ink holdout.
  • Natural kraft, 18pt–24pt for eco-forward, rustic, and barn-wedding aesthetics. Prints beautifully in one or two spot colors.
  • Rigid greyboard, 1200–1500gsm wrapped in specialty or textured paper for two-piece luxury builds.
  • Food-grade liners and greaseproof stock required for direct contact with chocolate, baked goods, or anything oily. (Verify current food-contact certifications with your supplier before publishing compliance claims.)
  • Recycled and FSC-certified board available across most styles for eco-friendly favor boxes.

Printing & Finishing

Offset lithography for runs where color consistency and unit cost matter; digital printing for shorter runs, variable data, and fast turnarounds. Both support full CMYK plus PMS spot matching.

Finishing options include gold, silver, rose gold, and holographic foil stamping; blind and registered embossing or debossing; spot UV over matte lamination; soft-touch lamination; edge painting on rigid builds; and ribbon slots or magnetic closures.

Sizing

Any dimension is possible, but the sizes that actually move for event work are 2×2×2″, 3×3×3″, 3×3×2″, 4×4×2″, and 4×4×4″. If you’re unsure, send us the item we’ll build the dieline around it rather than asking you to guess.

What You Actually Get Out Of It

A box that fits the contents. No rattle, no crushing, no filler tissue bought to hide a sizing mistake.

Brand recall past the event. A favor box printed with a logo sits on a guest’s counter for weeks. Custom favor boxes with logo detail are the cheapest branded impression a retailer or venue can buy.

Lower cost per unit than retail. Buying 400 favor boxes in retail packs of 25 costs meaningfully more than one wholesale run, before you count the time spent driving to three stores for matching stock.

Photography that works. Styled shoots, vendor portfolios, and product listings all improve when the packaging matches the palette.

Fewer damaged arrivals. Correct board weight and proper case-packing means boxes arrive square, not creased.

Sustainability you can point to. Recyclable board, soy-based inks, and plastic-free window options for clients who ask and increasingly, they ask.

How Ordering Works

1. Share your specs. Send dimensions, quantity, style, and event date. No artwork yet? Describe the item going inside and we’ll recommend a structure.

2. Get a quote. Pricing comes back with material, print method, and finishing broken out so you can see what each upgrade costs.

3. Receive your dieline. A print-ready template with bleed, safe zones, and fold lines sized to your box, not a generic download.

4. Approve the digital proof. We flag low-resolution assets, text inside fold lines, and colors that won’t reproduce on your chosen stock.

5. Approve the physical sample. A real printed box, folded and finished. This is where surprises get caught.

6. Production and delivery. Standard runs typically move in 8–12 business days after sample approval, with rush options available. Nationwide shipping, tracked.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order for custom favor boxes?

Minimums start at 100 units per design. Event work rarely needs five-figure quantities, so pricing is structured around realistic guest counts rather than industrial run lengths.

How long does production take?

Most orders ship 8–12 business days after you approve the physical sample. Add 3–5 days for foil, embossing, or rigid construction. Rush production is available when an event date can’t move tell us the date at quote stage, not after.

Can favor boxes hold food directly?

Yes, with the right substrate. Direct contact with chocolate, cookies, or anything with oil content requires a food-grade board or an inner liner. Confirm the specification at quoting so it’s built in from the start.

What file format do you need for artwork?

Vector files (AI, EPS, or PDF) at 300 DPI with fonts outlined and 1/8″ bleed. If you only have a raster logo, send the highest resolution you have we’ll tell you honestly whether it will hold up at print size.

Can I order different designs in one run?

Yes. Digital printing supports multiple designs across a single order, which is useful for multi-day corporate events or a retailer testing several SKUs at once. Offset runs are more cost-effective when the design is fixed.

Do wholesale favor boxes ship flat or assembled?

Flat, in nested cases. Flat shipping cuts freight cost substantially and protects the boxes in transit. Most styles assemble in under ten seconds; rigid two-piece boxes ship pre-formed.

How do I know the color will match my event palette?

Send a PMS number, a physical swatch, or an existing printed piece. We match to PMS on press and confirm it on your physical sample before the full run.

Artwork Preparation Guide

At Ono Custom Boxes, our Artwork Preparation Guide helps ensure your custom packaging design is print-ready for high-quality results. To get started, submit vector files (AI, EPS, or PDF) in CMYK color mode, with a 1/8 inch bleed and 300 DPI resolution. Convert all text to outlines and keep it at least 1/4 inch from the edges. Review your proof to ensure accuracy before submitting. Following these steps will guarantee your design is perfectly printed on your custom boxes.

Cut Line (Black Lines):

The cut line is the outline that marks where your custom packaging will be trimmed. It is typically represented by a solid black line in your artwork file.

Bleed Line (Green Lines):

The bleed line is the area extending beyond the cut line, usually marked with a green line in your artwork. Typically, a 1/8 inch (0.125") bleed is required to prevent any unwanted white borders.

Crease Line (Red Lines)

The crease line, marked by red lines in your artwork, indicates where the box will be folded during production.

Perforation (Dotted Black Lines):

Perforation lines, shown as dotted black lines, indicate where the box will have small, evenly spaced holes for easy tearing or separation. These are often used for tear-away sections.

Safety Margin (Dotted Green Lines):

The safety margin, marked by dotted green lines, is the area around the cut line where important elements (such as text, logos, or graphics) should be kept clear.
