Custom cracker boxes are food-grade paperboard cartons printed and die-cut to your exact product dimensions. They protect crackers from moisture and crushing, carry your branding and compliance panels, and fit retail shelves and e-commerce shipping alike. Available in kraft, SBS, and window styles with wholesale pricing across the United States.
Cracker packaging fails in three predictable ways, and every one of them costs money.
The first is staling. Crackers are hygroscopic. A carton with no barrier liner lets ambient moisture in, and a product that tested crisp at week one is soft by week eight on a slow-moving shelf. Returns follow.
The second is transit damage. A cracker is a thin, brittle laminate. Boxes specified for dry goods generally, rather than for fragile baked snacks specifically, arrive at distribution centers with crushed corners and product dust in the bottom.
The third is invisibility. Cracker sets in most grocery categories are crowded, and a stock brown carton with a label slapped on it reads as private label even when the product inside is premium.
Custom cracker boxes solve all three at once, because structure, barrier, and print are specified together instead of being inherited from whatever stock size came closest.
A custom cracker box is a folding carton engineered around your specific product, not adapted to it. That means three decisions made deliberately:
Structure. Internal dimensions are set from your actual cracker stack or inner pouch, with the correct headspace and no more. Overspecified boxes let product shift and break; underspecified boxes bow at the panels and jam on automated lines.
Substrate and barrier. Board caliper, coating, and any inner liner are chosen for the moisture sensitivity and shelf-life target of your recipe. A high-fat seeded cracker has different needs than a plain water biscuit.
Print. Artwork, finishes, and mandatory panels are laid out to survive the die-cut and fold without cutting through your logo or nutrition panel.
Everything else, from window placement to case pack count, follows from those three.
Food-contact compliance handled upfront. Inks, coatings, and adhesives are specified for indirect and direct food contact where applicable, with documentation available for your QA file. You should not have to chase a supplier for a declaration letter two days before an audit.
Structural engineering, not just printing. Dielines are built to your product and your line. If you are hand-packing today and moving to a cartoner next year, the structure can be specified now to avoid a re-tool later.
Retail and e-commerce specified separately. A carton that looks correct in a planogram is not automatically a carton that survives a parcel network alone. Both paths get their own spec.
Real prepress review. Files are checked for bleed, panel-to-die alignment, barcode quiet zones, and minimum type size before plates are made, and you receive a marked-up proof rather than a rendering.
Nationwide fulfillment. Production and freight are coordinated across the United States, including staged releases if you would rather not warehouse a full run at once.
Board alone will not hold crispness. Depending on your target shelf life, options include grease-resistant coatings for high-fat recipes, sealed inner films or a pouch-in-box construction for moisture-sensitive products, and aqueous or varnish coatings that resist scuffing through the supply chain. Specify your target shelf life at quote stage, because it changes the build.
Offset lithography for long runs with tight color control, digital for shorter runs and versioned SKUs, and flexo for very high volume. Finishes include matte and gloss lamination, soft-touch, spot UV, foil stamping, and embossing or debossing. Pantone matching is available where brand color accuracy is critical, and a color standard is held for reorders.
Nutrition Facts panel placement, allergen statements, ingredient declarations, net weight, UPC or GS1 barcodes with correct quiet zones, and lot or date-code windows are all laid out in the dieline rather than added as an afterthought.
Longer effective shelf life. Correct barrier specification protects crispness through the tail end of a slow-moving distribution cycle, which is where most cracker complaints originate.
Lower damage rates. Boxes built to the product, with the right caliper and correct scoring, arrive intact. That shows up directly in fewer credits and replacements.
Faster packing. Auto-bottom and correctly toleranced cartons cut seconds per unit. At tens of thousands of units, that is real labor cost.
Shelf presence that reads as premium. Print quality, finish, and window placement do the work that a stock carton cannot.
Lower shipping cost. Right-sized cartons reduce dimensional weight charges on parcel and cube better on pallets, which reduces freight per unit.
Retailer readiness. Case dimensions, case counts, and barcode placement built to fit the planogram and the DC scan, so nothing gets kicked back at receiving.
1. Specification call. We capture product dimensions, weight, fat content, target shelf life, channel (retail, wholesale, or e-commerce), and volume. If you have an existing carton, send it.
2. Structural design and dieline. You receive a dieline and a 3D mockup showing exactly how the carton folds, where panels land, and where your artwork sits.
3. Quote and material selection. Board, barrier, finish, and run quantity are priced together so you can see the cost impact of each choice rather than a single lump figure.
4. Artwork and prepress. Send print-ready files, or our team adapts your existing artwork to the dieline. Prepress checks bleed, resolution, barcode integrity, and panel alignment.
5. Proof approval. Digital proof as standard; physical samples and press proofs available for high-volume or color-critical projects. Nothing goes to press without your sign-off.
6. Production and quality check. Printing, die-cutting, gluing, and inspection against the approved proof and dimensional spec.
7. Delivery. Palletized and shipped nationwide, with staged releases available if you would rather not take the full run into your warehouse at once.
Cracker and biscuit brands launching or refreshing a retail line. Snack manufacturers running multiple SKUs that need visual consistency across a family. Bakery and gourmet food businesses selling artisan crackers at a premium price point that stock packaging undercuts. Organic and clean-label brands that need kraft or recycled substrates with credible certification behind them. Private label food companies producing for grocery chains and supermarkets under retailer specification. E-commerce snack brands shipping direct to consumers without a protective overbox. Wholesale food distributors and retailers needing case-ready packs that scan and stack correctly.
How long does production take for custom cracker boxes?
Standard turnaround runs roughly 8 to 12 business days after proof approval for typical retail cartons. Complex structures, specialty finishes such as foil or soft-touch, and very large volumes extend that. Rush production is available on many configurations. Building barrier liners into the spec adds time, so raise shelf-life requirements at the quote stage rather than after approval.
Are these boxes food-safe?
Yes. Inks, coatings, and adhesives are specified for their intended contact level, and documentation is available for your QA and audit files. If your crackers will sit in direct contact with the board rather than inside an inner pouch, say so at specification, because it changes the material selection.
Will custom packaging cost more than stock boxes?
Per unit, custom typically costs more at low volumes and less at scale, because the tooling is amortized and the board is right-sized instead of oversized. The more useful comparison is total cost. Right-sized cartons cut dimensional weight charges and pallet count, and correct barrier and caliper cut damage credits and staling returns. Those savings frequently exceed the unit price difference.
Can I get a window in the box?
Yes. Window cracker boxes use a food-safe PET film over a die-cut aperture. The main constraint is rigidity: a large window on a load-bearing panel weakens the carton. Structural design will place the aperture where it shows product without compromising stacking strength.
What artwork files do you need?
Print-ready vector files (AI, EPS, or layered PDF) with fonts outlined, images at 300 DPI or higher, CMYK color, and 1/8″ bleed, built onto the supplied dieline. If your files are not print-ready, artwork can be adapted for you.
Do you offer eco-friendly cracker boxes?
Yes. Recycled content board, FSC-certified stocks, uncoated kraft, and soy-based inks are all available. Note that fully compostable constructions and high moisture barriers pull in opposite directions, so if both matter, we will work through the trade-off with your shelf-life target in mind.
Can you match a competitor’s box or reproduce our current one?
Yes. Send a physical sample. It can be measured, the structure reverse-engineered into a dieline, and the board and coating identified, then improved where the original has weaknesses.
Send your product dimensions, target shelf life, and expected volume, and you will receive a structural recommendation, a dieline, and a transparent quote broken out by material and finish, so you can see exactly what each choice costs before you commit. Free design consultation, physical samples on request, and nationwide delivery.

At Ono Custom Boxes, our Artwork Preparation Guide helps ensure your custom packaging design is print-ready for high-quality results. To get started, submit vector files (AI, EPS, or PDF) in CMYK color mode, with a 1/8 inch bleed and 300 DPI resolution. Convert all text to outlines and keep it at least 1/4 inch from the edges. Review your proof to ensure accuracy before submitting. Following these steps will guarantee your design is perfectly printed on your custom boxes.

The cut line is the outline that marks where your custom packaging will be trimmed. It is typically represented by a solid black line in your artwork file.

The bleed line is the area extending beyond the cut line, usually marked with a green line in your artwork. Typically, a 1/8 inch (0.125") bleed is required to prevent any unwanted white borders.

The crease line, marked by red lines in your artwork, indicates where the box will be folded during production.

Perforation lines, shown as dotted black lines, indicate where the box will have small, evenly spaced holes for easy tearing or separation. These are often used for tear-away sections.

The safety margin, marked by dotted green lines, is the area around the cut line where important elements (such as text, logos, or graphics) should be kept clear.
