Blue popcorn boxes are food-safe paperboard containers printed in a custom blue shade for cinemas, carnivals, parties, and snack brands. They are made from FDA-compliant, grease-resistant stock, produced in sizes from 1 oz favor boxes to 130 oz tubs, and printed with your logo using Pantone matching for consistent color across every reorder.
Blue is the hardest color to get right in food packaging, and most buyers only find that out after the pallet arrives.
The proof comes back looking like the royal blue you approved. The production run comes back purple. Or the blue on the kraft sample looks teal. Or the first 500 boxes match your brand and the reorder six months later is two shades off, so your concession stand now has two visibly different products sitting side by side.
Then there is the second failure: the box that looks perfect and fails functionally. Butter soaks through the side seam within four minutes. The bottom drops out when a carnival worker grabs it one-handed. The flat-packed boxes will not pop open fast enough to keep a line moving on a Friday night.
Custom blue popcorn boxes solve a branding problem and a service problem at the same time, but only when the color science, the board grade, and the barrier coating are specified together. That is what this page walks through.
We manufacture printed blue popcorn packaging for businesses across the United States, from single-event runs to recurring wholesale programs.
The service is end to end. You bring a logo, a brand color, and a rough idea of portion size. We handle structural engineering, dieline creation, food-safe material selection, color matching, printing, finishing, die-cutting, gluing, and freight to your location or fulfillment center.
Every blue popcorn box we produce is built on food-grade paperboard with a grease-resistant treatment appropriate to the product going into it. Dry caramel corn, buttered movie popcorn, and cheese-coated corn each demand a different barrier. We match the barrier to the fill, not to a default spec sheet.
Blue is the specialty here. Getting a consistent, repeatable blue on a folding carton is a real technical discipline, and it is the reason most reorders drift out of brand.
Pantone-matched blue, not CMYK-approximate blue. Royal and reflex blues sit outside what four-color process printing can reproduce cleanly. Printed in CMYK, a rich blue commonly shifts violet as ink density varies across the sheet. We print brand blues as spot colors with a Pantone match, so the shade on run one is the shade on run twelve.
Kraft blue handled correctly. Blue ink printed directly on unbleached kraft turns muddy and green-cast because the brown substrate contaminates it. If you want blue on kraft, we lay down a white underbase first, then the blue on top. Most suppliers skip this step and send you a sample that quietly disappoints.
Draw-down proofs before you commit. You see a physical printed sample on your actual board stock under standard lighting, not a screen render. Blue looks different on coated SBS than on kraft than on a matte-laminated finish, and a JPG will not tell you that.
Food contact compliance in writing. Inks, coatings, and adhesives are FDA-compliant for direct food contact. Documentation is available for retail buyers, distributors, and health inspectors who ask for it.
Structural testing on the actual fill weight. A 130 oz tub loaded with popcorn behaves differently than an empty one. Bottom strength, side-wall rigidity, and one-handed carry are checked against your real portion size.
Nationwide production and freight. We ship to all 50 states, including split deliveries across multiple theater or franchise locations.
Standard capacities run from roughly 1 oz to 3.5 oz for favor and treat boxes, 32 oz and 46 oz for individual servings, and 85 oz to 130 oz for shareable and family portions. Custom dimensions are cut to your dieline when a stock size does not fit your scoop, warmer, or shelf.
Navy, royal, cobalt, electric, sky, baby blue, teal-leaning turquoise, and gradient blue-to-white fades. Two-tone blue with white stripe patterns is the most requested cinema and carnival look. Supply a Pantone code and we match it. Supply a physical sample and we match that instead.
Offset and digital printing, full-bleed coverage, gloss or matte lamination, soft-touch finish, spot UV, foil stamping in gold or silver against deep navy, embossing, and window patching for retail visibility.
Your color becomes your shelf signal. In a concession case full of red and yellow, a saturated blue box reads as a different brand from ten feet away. Blue also photographs unusually well against warm-toned popcorn, which matters when guests post the product.
Grease stays inside the box. Correct barrier selection prevents the translucent spotting that makes a premium product look cheap within minutes of serving.
Faster service throughput. Flat-fold boxes that open in one motion save a few seconds per transaction. Across a sold-out screening or a fair weekend, that compounds into shorter lines.
Portion control that protects margin. Fixed-volume boxes remove the guesswork of scooping into bags and keep cost-per-serve predictable.
Lower cost per unit at wholesale volume. Plate and setup costs amortize across the run, so scheduled bulk orders land well below small-batch pricing.
Free advertising in every hand. A logo-printed box travels through a venue, a park, or a reception hall all evening.
Standard turnaround runs about 8 to 12 business days after sample approval, with rush production available for dated events.
Movie theaters and cinemas running branded concession programs and premium-format upsells. Popcorn brands and gourmet snack companies needing retail-ready packaging with barcode and nutrition panel space. Carnival vendors, fair operators, and concession stands who need speed, strength, and visibility outdoors. Event planners, party suppliers, and wedding vendors matching a blue color scheme for baby showers, corporate events, and receptions. Food trucks and snack businesses working with tight counter space. Catering companies serving portion-controlled snacks at volume. Retailers and wholesale food distributors buying scheduled bulk runs with consistent color across every shipment.
Are blue popcorn boxes safe for direct food contact?
Yes. Boxes are produced with FDA-compliant food-grade paperboard, inks, coatings, and adhesives. Compliance documentation is available on request for retail and distributor onboarding.
Will my blue match exactly on every reorder?
It will if the blue is printed as a Pantone spot color. Provide your Pantone reference and we keep it on file with your approved production sample, so future runs are matched against a physical standard rather than reprinted from scratch.
Why did my last supplier’s blue come out purple?
Almost certainly because it was printed in CMYK. Deep blues sit at the edge of the process color gamut, and small increases in magenta density push them violet. A spot-color blue removes that variable.
Can these hold buttered popcorn without leaking?
Yes, with the correct grease-resistant treatment. Untreated board will spot through with oil-heavy products, so specify your fill type at the quoting stage and the barrier gets matched to it.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimums vary by box style, size, and print method. Digital printing supports smaller runs suited to events and startups, while offset becomes more economical at higher volumes. Contact us for the current minimum on your specific configuration.
How long does production take?
Roughly 8 to 12 business days after you approve the pre-production sample, plus transit. Rush timelines are available when you have a fixed event date.
Can I get eco-friendly blue popcorn boxes?
Yes. Recycled paperboard, soy-based inks, and water-based grease barriers are available as alternatives to poly-coated stock, keeping the box compatible with paper recycling streams in most regions.
Send your logo, your blue shade, your portion size, and your quantity. You will receive tiered pricing, a structural recommendation, and a 3D mockup, followed by a physical printed sample before anything goes to production.

At Ono Custom Boxes, our Artwork Preparation Guide helps ensure your custom packaging design is print-ready for high-quality results. To get started, submit vector files (AI, EPS, or PDF) in CMYK color mode, with a 1/8 inch bleed and 300 DPI resolution. Convert all text to outlines and keep it at least 1/4 inch from the edges. Review your proof to ensure accuracy before submitting. Following these steps will guarantee your design is perfectly printed on your custom boxes.

The cut line is the outline that marks where your custom packaging will be trimmed. It is typically represented by a solid black line in your artwork file.

The bleed line is the area extending beyond the cut line, usually marked with a green line in your artwork. Typically, a 1/8 inch (0.125") bleed is required to prevent any unwanted white borders.

The crease line, marked by red lines in your artwork, indicates where the box will be folded during production.

Perforation lines, shown as dotted black lines, indicate where the box will have small, evenly spaced holes for easy tearing or separation. These are often used for tear-away sections.

The safety margin, marked by dotted green lines, is the area around the cut line where important elements (such as text, logos, or graphics) should be kept clear.
